"I was fascinated to find this site when I Googled this morning after a trip down memory lane during a sleepless night. I started in the [Mixed] Infants Dept in September 1939, leaving at Easter 1949. It was marvellous to see photos of [very young] Miss McGregor, History and English language & Eng. Lit., Miss Pickering and Miss Hensman. Miss McGregor taught my father and he was 35 when I was born so she had a long career. Maybe she continued teaching owing to the war? Who remembers Miss Garrat [spelling?] Miss Grimes, who taught Art and was in the Salvation Army, Miss Cox, sports teacher, Miss Streather, who taught Geography and the lovely Miss Thomas, needlework? I hear from classmate Janet Cooper nee Booton at Christmas and birthdays. We had to spend a second year in the 'top class' when the '44 Act came in. It would be interesting to catch up with others of our vintage who might be interested in making contact. Janette - who has bookmarked this site." - Janette Clare nee Whitmore

"I do like the website. I was a pupil at the school in the early 1950s but now live in Lancashire. I am retired and a former journalist (starting on the Nuneaton Evening Tribune). One of my daughters in the head teacher of a CoE school in Lancashire. Every good wish to the staff." - David Hall

"I loved Stockingford and wish I could go back. I really enjoyed it there and I reached my goals." - Andrew Lees

"Hi to everyone I use to come to this school back in 1984-88. I used to be in the school choir with Mr Whitehead as the music teacher and Mr Kingdom as the science teacher. I remember I had Miss Thrope for French and Mrs Whale was another teacher. They were the good old days where you would help to do the props for school plays.
> Now it's time for my little boy to come to the school. I hope he has a lot of good times just like his mum did. The school has not changed a lot since I left many years ago - it was funny visiting the school hall - still the same as when I went here.
> I can remember when the house colours first came out - there were only 4 -they were blue, green, red and yellow. The sports days at the end of the summer term and we would be in our house colours and supporting each other. It was great." - Sara Ealing (Murray)

"I can't wait to start this school. My sister left in 2008 and she says its REALLY GOOD. My teachers sound really nice especially Mrs Thirgood. My sister Shannon would just like to say she misses the school - especially Mrs Morrissey and Mrs Naughton. I can't wait to see you all, love Annie xoxo" - Anja Liddle

See you all soon and yes I will come and visit you Mr Talbot!" - Rebecca Adey

"I think SJS was a brilliant school and I hope Alderman is just as good. The last day of school was very upsetting as one of my mates Sharna-Lea Clark is going to Manor Park and she is moving house so me and my other mates will never see her again. :(   Just like to say I will miss my days there cause SJS was fab !!! - Emily Ramsey

"Throughout school years I have enjoyed making new friends, meeting new teachers and definitely the trips, but things have gone too quickly. Now near the end of Year Six, I'm going to miss the school, teachers and the pupils and I can't for what the future has for me. I've enjoyed every second it was FAB!!!!!!!!!!!!" - Emily Glenn

"SJS 2001-2005. Best years of my life. Now that I go to Nico in Bedworth it's like nobody has any memories of this place to talk about. I've always been meaning to visit and have a look round, but never got to it. This website is the next best thing. Well done to whoever made it." - Alex Bugg

"I really like the website it is very good." - Andrew Martin 5AD

"The trip today to Bosworth Battlefield was great - we found out lots of interesting facts about Richard III and the person who defeated him in the War of the Roses - Henry VII I think. The best part was in the afternoon when we went to the exhibition - it was so kwl. We had some chained armour and nobody could lift it, so I took my strength and put it on but I couldn't get it off again :( Haha! Thank you." - Courtney Evans 5AD, 22/04/08

"I was a student at 'Stockingford Middle School' as it was back in 1993 - 1996.
Enjoyed my time - can't believe Polly Wilson is still teaching there. She was my Year 4 teacher. Went on to Alderman Smith after here and now live in Scarborough North Yorkshire. Can remember many good memories - particularly a helicopter visit in 1993/4 we did SMS on the playing field. I still have the picture to remind me of that day." - Joanne Davison

Hey everyone that's in Stockingford. I'm missing the skool sooo much. Sounds like you guys are havin loads of fun there. If someone could say hii to Mrs Naughton that would be great, and if you tell Mrs Kelsall I said thanks for my Xmas card and missing her 2. To any Year 6's coming up to Alderman it is realii fun i was really scared at first, but believe me there is so many friends you can make when you go there, and also there are loads of clubs like: dance football, trampoline and loads more. Also there is an anti bullying club too, where you have loads of fun. OK then - I got to go now. Thanks to whoever tells Mrs Kelsall and Mrs Naughton what i said. xx" - Chelsea Mallabone

"Hi everyone, spelling champion here. I've just gotta say Year 6 rocks!! Although Year 6 is a bit hard going and I do miss lessons with my class teacher - Mrs Morrisey, it's worth it in the end. I love school life at SJS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" - Shannon Liddle

"This site is fab. On Dickenson Day it was great - we had a funny morning in our class (5AD). Before class started we had to line up on the playground in lines from each class - a boy's line and a girl's line - but nobody did! We went inside having a laugh and Mrs Doyle came out looking scary and everyone screamed and ran . Then we went in - girls first and then boys. Mrs Doyle did the register and the people before me said "Good morning Mrs Doyle, but I said in the way that the Victorians would say it - "Yes Ma'am" and then everyone after me in the register copied me. Then we made gift bags, boxes and stockings and after lunch we went to Mrs Logan's class and made a mess making mince pies and chocolate truffles. The truffles were lush!. After lunch we went into Mr Talbots class and made Christmas crackers and christingles. We had a cracking time! After that we did carol singing around the school outside in the freezzzzzzzing cold! - Courtney Evans

"I can't believe I'm not part of the school no more - it's wierd. I miss all the teachers there and it's strange with them not teaching me. I am now at Alderman Smith, and am loving it - not a much as Stockingford though! Say hello to Mrs Kelsall and Mrs Naughton for me anyone! Thanks x" - Chelsea Mallabone

"On 12th July 2007 it was the year 6 Prom. Me. Scarlett, Olivia and Dalton arrived in a horse and carriage. IT WAS WICKED!" - Leanne Todd

"On 22nd June, some Year Six's went to Kingswood! It was wicked!! There were lots of activities including Go Karts, Quads, Climbing, Zip Line, Abseiling and Aeroball. There was also an activity called 'Nightline' which is where you had to crawl through mud and puddles. YUK!!! We came back on 25th June." - Leanne Todd

"On Monday the 25th of June a few children from Year 6 came back from a fantastic trip to Kingswood Centre. We went on the Friday and came back on the Monday. My favourite activity was the zip line I was the second person to go on it, it was scary at first but as soon as I got going I loved it!!! We also did lots of other things like: Areoball, Quad Bikes, Go Karting and Canoe Splash also lots of other things. On the Friday night we had a Campfire and did: Jokes, Ghost Stories and our most embarrassing moments (I had plenty of them to tell). On the Saturday night we had a Disco in the Gym and on the Sunday night we did Karaoke. It was lots of good fun and I'm sure all the people who went - including the teachers - enjoyed it too." - Chelsea Mallabone

"I was a pupil at the school from about 1942 to 1946 while my father was away in a POW camp.  I remember the day I joined as we were given a slate and a ball of wool and I was terrified because I did not know how to knit.  Before we could sit down the Air Raid siren went and I had to wait what seemed ages down the shelter before I found out the wool was to clean the slate. Funny I don't remember being afraid of the bombs."

"We had to go to sleep every afternoon and we slept on the floor in lines as I was only three when I first went."

"All my aunts and my Mother Annice Overy nee Ridgeway went to the school and she remembered getting two slices of bread for breakfast during the miners strike and taking one home for her Dad while her sister Mary took one home for their Mum."

"We lived at 59 Cross Street then but now I live in Abbotsford British Columbia. Did anyone take any pictures when they unearthed the air raid shelter?" - Bill Overy (Billy Ridgeway)

Mr Overy - Thank you so much for getting in touch. How fantastic to hear from an ex-pupil who now lives many miles away. We have recently celebrated our school centenary and have been trying to collect memories from people who spent time here. We would love to hear more. If you have any more school memories to share with us, please get in touch via the guest book. If you feel able to provide us with your email address that would be great - we would of course not publish it or pass it on to any other party. Thanks again.
