School Facilities

In this section we will show you some of the facilities available in our school.

Our Library

We have a fantastic new library at SJS, with hundreds of new books and resources to enjoy. There is a cosy area with beanbags for pupils to relax and read, there are armchairs, and stools for those who prefer to sit at a table. There is a huge variety of books to choose from – fiction, factual, poetry, topic-based reference books, and large books to share with friends.

Mrs Brindley is our Learning Resources Manager and she is always available for advice and help. A small group of pupils volunteer to become library monitors, assisting by collecting and filing books, and helping to keep the library tidy.

Every class has a weekly session in the library, led by Mrs Brindley. The first part of the session consists of structured activities linked to class work. Pupils then have an opportunity to browse through the many books on display and change their library book if they wish.

The library is also used for some year group assemblies, small group work and book fairs.
